Your mechanics are correct, really solid. BUT I am not hearing the necessary verbal commands? A puppy mentally learns a specific position has a specific name as you use your hands to shape, your mouth should be reinforcing that position with the correct verbal name. "Sit", "Step-Hup", "Step-Off", "Wait", "Let's go", "Stand" and now "Down". I know this is not how you normally teach these exercises as KMODT is usually done SILENTLY initially. But this is a puppy and you have WAY MORE freedom to 'help' a puppy learn so do use the verbal commands for each position. You will need that layering imprinted into Frannie's mind and muscles as we go forward.
I usually save the "Down" as the very last position taught to a puppy. She sure was giving you what for wasn't she? Give her some days off of the Down, for now, and work on your verbal commands with the puppy positions. BTW, the "Step-Hup" and "Step-Off" WILL BE USED as Frannie grows so DO USE IT now while her learning ability is easy and high.
I uploaded the Mannerly Puppy EXAM with Redd @ 17 weeks old, it is under 'Roxanne EXAMS'.
Your mechanics are solid, clean and clear. BUT I am not hearing any verbal commands? With a puppy you want to reinforce the learned position with the verbal. I know that is opposite the normal KMODT, but this is puppy training where we have a tiny window to imprint, teach and shape a puppy into the positions it will need later.
I am not hearing you do the "Step-Hup" nor the "Step-off" which you WILL need later as we progress with the training so add those verbal commands along with "Sit", "Let's Go", "Wait", "Stand", "Get-it" and the release word of "ok".
Please note I have uploaded the Mannerly Puppy EXAM with Redd @ 17 weeks old under the tab 'Roxanne EXAMS'. That is where we are going with our puppies BEFORE we start the FOUNDATION Course. Good to know what the EXAM will be isn't it?
Got it! She’s going though a little phase right now, I noticed yesterday she’s a little spooked by things that hadn’t bothered her before we will work though it!
